Head to Facebook for more updates
Hi all,
Sorry we couldnt get onto the website very much while travelling but jump onto the Nathan Wright Fortescue Walk for Hope facebook page for full updates and photos uploaded every few days.
Thanks for the support and really hope to see you on Saturday when we cross the finish line!
We’re almost home!
After almost 1000 long and grueling kilometers over 32 days we will FINALLY arrive home in Perth on Saturday at 9am to do one lap of the Swan River and then cross the finish line at 11am! This will all happen in Langley Park in front of Fortescue – where there will be a sausage sizzle, bouncy castle, face painting balloons, frisbees and some speeches. We would love you to join us in walking the last 10kms around the river so meet us at Langley Park at 9am to get in on the action!
Once home – Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi will do a welcome and Glenn Mitchell (former ABC sports broadcaster) is going to MC! Makes us feel pretty special!
Can’t wait to cross that finish line and hope you can all join us on Saturday to make it a party! See you then!
Geraldton!
The boys have officially made it to Geraldton. They have a well deserved day off tomorrow (the one and only rest day in 4 weeks) then back at it on Friday. A big THANKS to everyone who came out to support the cause in Geraldton.
Thank You Radlink
Massive thanks to RADLINK!! one of our fantastic sponsors…
Simon loses both chargers for the Sat phone!! Sorry Howard and James!! Duh
Jim (owner of Radlink) sends up one of his boys, Peter, who drives through the night to meet us 120kms out of Carnarvon… only we are 120 kms out of Northhampton… @ 3.30am Peter passes us, realises this turns around and drives back to meet us at our camp (he had to find us too!) at 730am… WITH KFC!! yyyeeeooowww ( was missing a few extra pieces).
Thanks Amazing Jim and Peter!! thank you so much…

Into Northampton
Hi All,
Hard couple of days… Mentally for us both. Have head into Northampton for a connection…
We are remembering those we met along teh way that have lost loved ones today.. good motivation when you feel like your feet are about to peel off.
More Pics…..

Day 8 – Past half way to Geraldton!
Dave and Simon have just passed the halfway point from Carnarvon to Geraldton [the hardest and most remote leg of the walk]. Project Manager Ros Worthington met up with them today and will camp for 2 nights with the boys before heading to Northampton to prepare for the Welcoming Party there.
With her, Ros brought a tracking device which is now attached to Dave and Simon’s support vehicle so we can see where they are 24/7! Very exciting development. Keep an eye on the website which will soon allow you to track them as well. A big thank you to Softrock Solutions for donating the device.
Day 6 – Still smiling despite blisters!
Day 6 and Dave and Simon are still smiling – despite a fair few blisters! They reached the Overlander Roadhouse today where they will FINALLY be able to have a shower and buy an ice-cream. Had some rough weather last night but are still going strong.
Your messages of encouragement are what keeps Dave & Simon going so please post them on the Facebook page or below on the website.
Powering through
Simon and Dave are powering through…about to hit some rough weather tonight so camp already set!
About 25kms out of Overlander…staying ahead of the game….Taking care, Simon and Dave
Day 1
Very very warm reception from the local people of Carnarvon. Thank you all for your help and overwhelming generosity of spirit… we had a great send off form IGA Carnarvon and they were just awesome supplying us with plenty of healthy tucker… even a BOX of bananas!! Troy cook took the first 10km with us and with our solid support crew Uncle David Auntie Margs & Lexie, away we went. 30km ish for the day and Dave has blisters, truckies and people waving and beeping as they go past, some stopping and talking sharing their story… Number of the lads working on the road, were very cheeky & jovial bunch as you would imagine when we told them we were walking to Perth!! They dug deep for us too.
6PR Howard Sattler dropped us a line and is committed his support to our journey, Thanks Howard
Fire, damper swag bed…
Simon’s 1st Blog Post
Thanks Steve for putting this awesome site together for the “Nathan Wright Forteque Walk for Hope”… Absolute legendary effort and support!
Its a long walk!… all for the right reasons, it all begins with an idea and some courage to take the first step towards it being completed…
